Rocky Hill Obituary: Flossie Byrom, 101

Condolences to her family and friends.

Flossie J. Jackson Byrom, 101, of Rocky Hill, transitioned home on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at home.

She was born in Orangeburg, SC on June 26, 1915, to the late Samuel & Minnie (Jenkins) Folk. Flossie was a devoted lover of Christ and a faithful member of Metropolitan A.M.E Zion Church in Hartford, CT for over 70 years. After working for over a decade, she retired from Hartford Hospital.

Flossie's love for the Lord was beyond measure; she prided herself on telling her family and friends about the love of Christ and the importance of loving others from the heart. She was a giving woman and enjoyed helping those around her.

She was predeceased by her husbands Frank "Bopete" Jackson, Sr. and Ulysses Byrom. She had six sons, in which she was predeceased by three of her sons, Frank Jackson, Jr., Charles C. Jackson, and Alfred L. Jackson; and survived by her other three sons Thomas B. Jackson, Sr. (Hattie Roberts) of Rocky Hill, Samuel N. Jackson of Oakland, CA, and Martin Jackson, Sr., (Joy Jackson) of New Britain. She was predeceased by her two brothers Charles and Samuel Folk and sister Helen Gaffney. She is survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Calling hour will be on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with Funeral service to follow from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon at Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 2051 Main Street, Hartford. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Hartford, CT.
