Rocky Hill Obituary: Giuseppina Bordonaro, 87

Condolences to her family and friends.

Giuseppina "Pina" (Amenta) Bordonaro, 87, of Rocky Hill and Port Charlotte, FL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 27, 2017, joining her beloved husband, Leonardo Bordonaro.

She was born in Solarino, Siciliy, on April 15, 1930, the daughter of the late Salvatore Amenta and Serafina (Coco) Amenta. She was proud of her starting career as the town's first and only telephone operator, which led to her meeting the love of her life, "Nardo." After they married and started their family, she immigrated to the United States in 1962 to join her parents and then settled in Rocky Hill in 1976.

She worked as a foot press operator at Connecticut Spring & Stamping for almost 30 years. She and her husband retired to Port Charlotte, FL, where she enjoyed many years of playing cards with friends, cooking for Nardo and everyone who stopped by, and having her grandchildren come to visit. They returned every summer to spend time with family and happily celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September. She loved spending time with her family and was especially devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived to cook and was famous for her delicious homemade bread, sauce, pasta, and cookies.

Her family would like to thank the entire Masonicare Hospice team, and in particular, Christine Goodwin and Barbara May, for the wonderful and compassionate care she received over the last few months.
