Rocky Hill Obituary: Harold Clarke, 89

Condolences to his family and friends.

Harold "Hal" Robert Clarke, 89, of Middletown, formerly Rocky Hill, walked on from the Earth plane, July 24, 2017. He was the loving husband of the late Shirley E. Dickinson for 61 years. He crossed over exactly one month before his 90th birthday.

He was the son of Harold G. and Amy Doran Clarke of West Hartford. Hal graduated from Hall High School in 1945, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, World War II, and was awarded the Victory Medal. He attended Morse College of Business. Hal was drafted into the Army in the early 1950's, and was specifically chosen for CIC during the Korean Conflict.

On discharge, he was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, first in Internal Investigations, then as a Statistical Analytical Programmer in the Engineering Building. Hal was a Mason, 32nd degree, member of Stepney Lodge, Rocky Hill.

Hal leaves his daughter Jenna Blinn Clarke of Newington, a sister Elaine Jaworski of East Hartford, a brother Charles "Chuck" Clarke and sister-in-law Esther B. Clarke of East Hartford. Also nephews and their wives: Eric and Maria Clarke, East Hartford; Douglas and Wendy Clarke, Rocky Hill; Steven and Sarah Jaworski, Bolton; Thomas and Judi Jaworski, Vernon; and Paul and Kristen Jaworski, Tolland. He is survived by cousins, plus many nieces and nephews. Hal was predeceased by his wife's sister, Jeanne Dickinson Brooks.

Relatives and friend are invited to join us as we wish Hal a peaceful journey on Wednesday, Aug. 2nd, from 4-7 PM, at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Avenue, Newington. His final walk will be celebrated privately.
