Rocky Hill Obituary: Marie Staiano, 89

Marie L. Staiano, 89, of Rocky Hill, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2017.

Born in Hartford on July 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ciro F. and Lucy (D’Addario) Staiano. Marie retired from the State of CT Judicial Department, where she worked as a legal clerk for many years. She also volunteered at West Hill Elementary School in Rocky Hill, where she enjoyed working with “the little ones,” and was a docent tour guide for many years at the State Capitol.

Marie belonged to the State of CT Retirees Club and the League of Women Voters. She was an active member of St. James Church in Rocky Hill and a frequent visitor to the Goodspeed Opera House, where she enjoyed attending the musicals performed there.

A beloved sister, aunt and great-aunt, Marie will be dearly missed by her sister, Philomena Cunningham Paris and husband David of North Myrtle Beach, NC; two nephews; Gene Cunningham and wife Cassandra of Dallas TX and John Cunningham and wife Jackie of Frederick, MD; her niece, Brenda Kelly of New Britain; grand-nieces, Lauren Cunningham, Abbey Cunningham, Savannah Kelly and Gabby Cunningham and grand-nephews, Robert Cunningham, Robert Kelly and Zach Cunningham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (February 9) at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
