Rocky Hill Obituary: Mary Leone, 96

Mary Frances (Mazzarella) Leone, 96, of Rocky Hill, beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Leone, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Jefferson House of Newington.

Mary was born in Port Chester, New York, daughter of the late James and Salvatrice (Tarscio) Mazzarella. She worked at the Ravioli Kitchen of Franklin Avenue for 20 years. Mary served as the President of the Columbetes Women of K of C, she sang with the Barry Square Community Center, served as treasurer and hospitality director for Rocky Hill Seniors and volunteered for various charitable organizations including the Girl Scouts.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Joyce Ferreira and her husband Bob of Rocky Hill and Carolyn Clark of Centennial, Colorado, three grandchildren, Matthew Ferreira and his wife Gaetana of Rocky Hill, Ashley Clark of San Francisco, California and Shelby Clark of San Francisco, California, two great grandchildren, Mia and Vincenzo whom she loved dearly, a brother, Vincent Mazzarella of Rocky Hill and Florida, three sisters, Sarah Conforto and her husband Paul of Rocky Hill, Angie Piacentini of Wethersfield and Margie D’Alessandro of Rocky Hill, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband of 66 years, she was predeceased by four brothers, Anthony, Thomas, Ernest and Joseph Mazzarella, two sisters, Carmella Bellatoni and Connie Chila and a son-in-law, William Clark.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff on the 2nd floor Morgan Unit at Jefferson House for their care and compassion.

Funeral services will begin Saturday, March 3, at 9:30 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish (St. James Church), 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Memorial donations in Mary’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
