Rocky Hill Obituary: Salvatore Efici, 79

Condolences to his family and friends.

Salvatore Efici, 79, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Giovanna (Traina) Efici, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

Salvatore was born on October 7, 1937 in Militello, Province of Catania, Sicily. He was the son of the late Prossede Mario and Mariastella (Buonpastore) Efici. Salvatore came to America in 1958 settling in Brooklyn N.Y. where he lived for ten years. Salvatore was a skilled mason and was the foreman for the Lombardo Brothers Construction Company of Hartford, he also worked for the Connecticut Department of Transportation having retired from both companies.

He was an active member of the Italian American Men’s Society of Hartford and the Angelo Custode Priolesi Club of New Britian. He was a proud and avid fan of Juventus, the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Salvatore had a passion and talent for gardening, he also enjoyed hunting. He especially loved to dance with his wife at the Italian Society socials. Salvatore truly enjoyed life, he was always happy and he loved to spend time with his family.

In addition to his wife Giovanna of 60 years, Salvatore is survived by his six children; three daughters: Marinella Motta and her husband Santo of Columbia, Emilia Harshaw and her husband Wade of Rocky Hill and Linda Efici of Rocky Hill. His three sons: Mario Efici of East Hartford, Salvatore Efici, Jr. of Rocky Hill and Antonio Efici and his wife Jamie of Cromwell. Salvatore will be dearly missed by his ten beloved grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Graziella Scire in Militello Sicily, a brother-in-law Sebastiano Traina and his wife Elena of West Hartford along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Salvatore was predeceased by his two sisters: Antonietta Scire and Sebastiana LaRocca.

Salvatore’s family would like to extend a huge thank you to the staff of Bel-Air Manor and to the 11th floor Bliss Unit of Hartford Hospital for their care and compassion.

Funeral services will begin on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 9 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook Street, Rocky Hill. Burial will immediately follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Elm Street, Rocky Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4-7 at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations in Salvatore’s name to be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492 or to the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231.
