Rocky Hill Students Participate in Arts Education Apprenticeship

The six-week arts education apprenticeship will help students develop the skills necessary for any workplace.

 

Two students from Rocky Hill are getting hands on training during a six-week arts education apprenticeship. 

Kevin Hasson and Jarena Lee of Rocky Hill are participating in the Greater Hartford Arts Council’s 2012 Neighborhood Studios program, which runs from June 25 to Aug. 3.

The apprentices "receive hands-on arts instruction from master teaching artists, career skills training workshops through a partnership with Hartford Public Library and are paid a weekly stipend for their work," according to the release.

During the six week apprenticeship, students do the following:

  • Engage in all-day arts workshops with master teaching artists
  • Practice in-person interviews
  • Perform online job searches
  • Manage personal finances
  • Present their work in a public exhibition

“In today’s competitive times, the Neighborhood Studios program helps students develop the skills they’ll need to succeed in the workplace not only in the arts, but any position,” says Cathy Malloy, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Hartford Arts Council.
