Shots Fired Investigation Prompts ‘Soft Lockdown’ At Schools: PD
Police are investigating reports of a drive-by shooting that has closed roads and led to a "soft lockdown" of several schools in Rocky Hill.
ROCKY HILL, CT — Several schools were placed in a “soft lockdown” as police investigate a shots fired incident in Rocky Hill, according to officials.
Police said shots were fired from one vehicle to another in the area of Orchard Street and Textbook Avenue.
“It does not appear anyone was struck at this point in the investigation,” police wrote in a post on Twitter.

Police said roads are closed in the area.
Rocky Hill Superintendent of Schools Mark Zito notified families that Stevens, GMS, and Rocky Hill High School were placed into a "soft lockdown" by police “in response to reports of a drive-by shooting in the general area near those three schools.”

“Stevens Pre-K morning students were dismissed prior to the incident and the afternoon Pre-K students will be safely will supervised by local police as they enter the school,” Zito wrote in the message. “A ‘soft lockdown’ means that no individuals will be allowed to enter or exit those schools but instructional and other school operations will continue without interruption. All students and staff are safe. Please do not attempt to pick-up your child at this time from any of those three schools due to the soft lockdown.
“Moser and West Hill School were not placed into a ‘soft lockdown’ given their distance from the location of the reported incident. I will continue to keep everyone updated on this situation.”
