The 9 Best Dessert Pies in Connecticut for 2016

When you think of yummy desserts, especially as fall temperatures cool down, do your thoughts turn to pies?

If they do, then Connecticut Magazine has your back. The publication recently listed the nine best dessert pies in the state, a delicious grouping of the best spots in the Nutmeg State to taste such wonderful sweetness.

"In honor of one of our favorite foods and times of year, we went on a quest for the best pies in Connecticut," writes Connecticut Magazine's Michael Lee-Murphy, Erik Ofgang and Albert Yuravich. "After doing research and receiving tips, we gathered about a dozen dessert pies from about as many shops. Then in a decadent day at the office, the Connecticut Magazine staff dug into these specimens with gluttonous fervor — we mean scientific detachment. The resulting list is the fruit (pies) of our very enjoyable labor and marks the best of the best we could find when it comes to Connecticut pie."

• Blueberry and peach pie from Granny’s Pie Factory in East Hartford
• Fruits of the Farm pie from Bishop’s Orchards in Guilford
• Strawberry rhubarb pie from Soleil and Suns Bakery in Woodstock
• Apple crumb pie from Oronoque Farms Bakery in Shelton
• Hi-Top apple pie from Lyman Orchards in Middlefield
• Blueberry pie from Sixpence Pie Company in Southington
• Chocolate pecan bourbon pie from Michele’s Pies in Norwalk
• Key lime pie from The Pantry in Fairfield
