Acting Principal On Leave At Shelton High
The acting principal was placed on leave amid a police investigation.
SHELTON, CT — Acting Shelton High School Principal John Skerritt has been placed on leave shortly after Principal Beth Smith amid a police investigation.
Superintendent Chris Clouet placed Skerritt on leave Monday afternoon and will be out until Shelton Police conclude their investigation. Clouet said the action wasn't disciplinary in nature.
"Ken Saranich, Principal of Shelton Intermediate School and Lorraine Rossner, Assistant Superintendent will help cover administrative duties at Shelton High until further notice," Clouet said in a statement. "Shelton High continues to be a safe and productive educational environment for all our students, faculty, and staff."

Shelton Police and the State Attorney's Office are investigating whether protocol was followed in handling a incident involving two students, according to the New Haven Register.
Police Chief Shawn Sequeira didn't put a hard date on when the investigation would be concluded, but said it may be later this week, according to the Register.
