After Chase, Shelton Police Arrest 2 in Stolen Van

The Wednesday afternoon incident ended on Route 34 in Derby.

Shelton, CT - Local police arrested a 20-year-old Waterbury man, and a 17-year-old juvenile, in a stolen van following a police chase that ended in Derby Wednesday.

Deion Lovett was charged with:

  • Larceny 1st Degree
  • Engaging Police in Pursuit
  • 3 counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor

The juvenile was charged with Larceny 1st Degree.

Shelton police said that at about 4 p.m., a detective saw Lovett "driving a Chrysler van traveling in the downtown area with the rear door to the vehicle

wide open. When the detective attempted to stop the vehicle it sped off and a pursuit ensued."

The chase ended on Route 34 in Derby when Lovett eventually stopped. In the vehicle were four other juveniles, three of whom were not charged.

"An investigation revealed the van was stolen at gun point in New Haven on 06/12/2016," wrote Shelton police in a statement. "No other arrests are expected in the case."
