New Officer Sworn In To Derby Police Department

DERBY, CT — The Derby Police Department's newest recruit was officially sworn in during a police commissioners meeting Monday evening.

According to the department's Facebook page, Sophia Gigliotti was administered the oath of office by Police Commissioner Tom DeGennaro as family, friends and department members looked on.

She is set to begin attending the police academy Friday, the department noted.

"Please join us in welcoming recruit Gigliotti to the Derby Police Department and wishing her the best of luck as she begins her academy training," police wrote on Facebook. "We are excited to have her on the team and look forward to watching her succeed."
