Constitution Week Displays at the Shelton Libraries

When you visit the Plumb Memorial Library or the Huntington Branch Library stop by to look at the Ripton Parish Chapter DAR Constitution Week displays. Constitution Week is celebrated annually during the week of September 17-23 to commemorate its history, importance, and bring attention to how this significant document still serves us today.

Also, September is National Sign Up for a Library Card Month. Each resident is welcome to one free library card which must be renewed every four years. So, if you need to renew your library card or obtain a new one, this is a perfect opportunity to visit the library.

Plumb Memorial Library has a long history of serving the people of Shelton. The building was completed in 1895 and expanded in 1974. In 1991 the Huntington Branch Library opened at the Shelton Community Center. The libraries offer a safe and welcoming environment which celebrates a love of reading and lifelong learning. The libraries are a vital resource that provides useful information, the latest books, and is a cultural center that enriches our lives and keeps pace with current technology.

The Huntington Branch library offers Notary Services by appointment (Branch phone: 203-926-0111). The Branch also has video games, murder mystery games, escape room games, and newly released DVDs. Four public computers are also available and patrons can bring their own devices and work in a quiet area.

The members of Ripton Parish Chapter, DAR, invite all Shelton residents to visit our two libraries – Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster St., and the Huntington Branch Library, 41 Church St. – and look at the Constitution Week displays.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is dedicated to promoting Historic Preservation, Education and Patriotism. DAR members are women who come from diverse backgrounds and have a variety of interests.Any woman 18 years old or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove direct lineage to a Revolutionary War ancestor is eligible to join.
