SHELTON, CT — A Trumbull man was charged in connection with an armed robbery reported Wednesday at a Shelton business, according to the Shelton Police Department.
In a news release posted to Facebook, Police Det. Sgt. Colin Bitsco said Paulo Dias, 54, of Trumbull, is accused of entering the Howe Avenue store carrying what appeared to be a black firearm and approaching a cashier.
According to Bitsco, Dias pointed the firearm directly at the cashier's head and demanded money, then fled the business with the money after the cashier complied.
Dias was arrested approximately seven hours after the robbery following a police investigation, according to Bitsco.
During the arrest, detectives recovered clothing believed to have been worn by Dias during the robbery, as well as gloves, stolen money and a facsimile firearm, according to Bitsco.
Dias was charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny, possession of a controlled substance, illegal use of a facsimile firearm, criminal possession of a firearm and first-degree threatening – armed.
He is being held on a $750,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court, according to Bitsco.
