SHELTON-DERBY, CT — It was a historic night for Democrats across the county and also in Connecticut as the top candidates for state office all rolled to victory.
On Election Day, Gov. Ned Lamont, Democrat, received 646,742 votes, and his Republican challenger Ryan Fazio earned 454,488 with about 90 percent of the full vote total, according to unofficial results.
Democrats swept all five congressional seats once again, with Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes, Luke Bronin, Joseph Courtney, and Jahana Hayes all winning.
Also winning reelection were Democrats, Attorney General William Tong, Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas, Treasurer Erick Russell, and Comptroller Sean Scanlon, according to the Secretary of State's website.
Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff also announced Tuesday night Democrat Jorge Cabrera was declared the unofficial winner of the state's 17th Senate District.
Democrat Bryan Lizotte was also declared the unofficial winner of the state's 113th House District seat Tuesday night, according to the Connecticut Democratic Party.
Here is how Shelton and Derby residents voted in the key races:
(Editor's Note: Some candidates were on the ballot multiple times, which is why you may see two or even three numbers included next to a candidate's name. Also note, that several candidates involved multiple towns, and the numbers below reflect Shelton and Derby alone. Once full results are in for all towns, we'll note the overall winner. Check back for more updates. These results are still unofficial as of now.)
These unofficial vote totals were listed on the Secretary of the State's website.
