Ansonia's Copper City Bar and Grill Promises Upscale Bar Food
The restaurant, owned by Shelton resident Tom Carney, opened in July.

If you’re tired of your old haunts in the area when it comes to bar food, you’re in luck. You might not have heard of it but Copper City Bar and Grill, a restaurant that serves upscale bar food recently opened in Ansonia.
Veteran chef and Shelton resident Tom Carney, recently gave up his partnership in three restaurants in Fairfield County and decided to open the joint. Carney, who has lived in Shelton for around 15 years, chose the location because it was affordable and close to home.
Carney has been a chef since the early 90s although he claims his career really began when he was a child in Yonkers, N.Y., where his grandfather would make him taste things straight from the ground. After that, Carney said he was hooked and he couldn’t get away from it.

A special item on the menu at Copper City Bar and Grill is Tommy’s Apple Tart. Carney claims he has served the dessert to an angry customer or two and they have left the restaurant in good spirits. Along with the food, the bar boasts a selection of craft beer, wines and specialty martinis.
A staff of 10 make up the place, including Carney’s son and daughter.
