NAACP Calls Shelton Blackface School Response Inadequate

The students involved in sending a photo of a white student in blackface wrote apologies that were shared at an assembly.

SHELTON, CT — The girls who sent a photo on Snapchat of a white student in blackface wrote apologies that were shown at a full school assembly at Shelton Intermediate School Friday.

Superintendent Chris Clouet said the assembly included a history of blackface and a statement from a black student who was affected by the photo, according to the Shelton Herald.

Valley NAACP president Greg Johnson Sr. said the school's response was inadequate and that he is organizing an event for people to come to a rally before the Sept. 25 Board of Education meeting.
