November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). This November will be my fourth year participating. The goal is to write 50K words in 30 days (Nov 1 - Nov 30).
Let the Writing Frenzy Begin!
If you asked me back in 2009 if I would be able to write an entire novel in 30 days, I would have thought that you were crazy, but, I have now written 3! It is possible even with Thanksgiving, work, and everything else that happens during the month.
Last year, I wrote over 50,400 words. I also had surgery, worked full time, served on two non profit boards, and had the typical family drama. If I can do it, so can you!
Although I have not even looked at any of these novels since I verified my word count, I love the experience and challenge of NaNo. This next idea though...
Join me!
This year, I would love to see more writers in the Lower Naugatuck Valley get involved with this amazing program. I almost want to create a sub-region for our region.
Writers from each region get together throughout the month for "write-ins" where they can write in the company of others. This usually takes place at coffee shops, Panera Bread, Starbucks, libraries, and other local spots.
If I were to schedule some write-ins in Shelton, Seymour, Oxford, Beacon Falls, Derby, and Ansonia, would you join me? You do not have to commit to NaNoWriMo to join my for these write-ins, but it is fun and free.
