SHELTON, CT — Police are conducting an internal affairs investigation after an Aug. 23 incident in which a stray bullet hit a home in town as an officer was shooting at a sick raccoon, the Shelton Herald reports. The incident occurred near Riverside Cemetery, according to Mayor Mark Lauretti.

Police Chief Shawn Sequeira said the officer, who was not identified, has not been placed on administrative leave, the Shelton Herald reports. Lauretti said no one was hurt and noted the officer will face the same consequences as any officer who improperly discharges a weapon.
