Canal Street Housing Proposal Gains Momentum
The 223 Canal St. project calls for the redevelopment of an industrial site into apartments.

SHELTON, CT - Local officials recently approved a plan to accept state funding toward demolishing and cleaning up portions of an industrial site on Canal Street in Shelton to make room for a new apartment complex.
The state is granting Shelton $875,000 toward a million-dollar project at 223 Canal St. Shelton is paying for the remaining $200,000, and once the vacant building is torn down, the road can be widened and work can begin on a proposed residential project.
The Shelton Herald reports that while the Board of Aldermen's vote to accept the funding signified progress, the move is just one step forward in a long process.
