Connecticut News Reporter Returns To California Roots

Shawnte Passmore is leaving WFSB-TV for a new job in her home state of California.

CONNECTICUT — Veteran television news reporter Shawnte Passmore, who has been with WFSB-TV for three years, is leaving the Connecticut station to take a job back in her home state of California at KOVR-TV in Sacramento, she announced on Twitter.

"Like so many of you, the pandemic made me re-prioritize what's important," Passmore wrote. "I've missed too many birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and milestones by being away from loved ones."

Getting out of the New England cold may have played a small role in why she's heading to the CBS affiliate in the Golden State.

"I'm so thankful for the growth that allowed me to come back to my home state and the people along the way who guided me and trusted me with their stories," she wrote. "I'm also proud of my New England and Midwestern toughness when it comes to the cold — 50s ain't cold, but ask me again next winter!"

In addition to Channel 3 in Connecticut, Passmore also worked at a CBS affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska, and is a graduate of Long Beach State University in California.
