Cops: Shelton Man Threw Woman to Ground, Attempted to Flee Scene

Police caught the man a short distance from where the alleged assault took place.

A Shelton man was arrested in Orange after police say he got into a verbal argument with a woman that turned physical.

Officers responded to Puerto Vallarta restaurant in Orange on May 5 around 7:40 p.m. where they learned that Anthony Sliney, 26 had gotten into an argument with a woman.

According to police, the argument turned physical and Sliney allegedly threw the woman to the ground causing her injury.

Sliney then attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle but got into an accident before he could get away, police said. He abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but officers were able to catch him a short distance from the restaurant.

He was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer, evading the scene of a motor vehicle accident, operating a motor vehicle without a license and driving under the influence.

He was held on a $5,000 bond and given a court date of May 6.
