Crash Kills Motorcyclist On Route 8 In Shelton: State Police

The crash occurred Monday evening northbound between exits 13 and 14.

SHELTON, CT — A 29-year-old Yonkers, New York, man was killed Monday evening when the BMW motorcycle he was operating collided with a Honda CR-V on Route 8 in Shelton, according to Connecticut State Police.

Oliver J. Mateo was thrown from the motorcycle and was found by Shelton firefighters in the roadway northbound between exits 13 and 14.

"Once Echo Hose Ambulance arrived and assessed the patient, it was determined the patient was not revivable," fire officials said in a statement. No other injuries were reported.

The crash occurred at about 6:30 p.m., and state police said the Honda was driven by 45-year-old Derby man. Route 8 temporarily was closed Monday while state police investigated the crash, but it has since been reopened.

Details of the collision were not disclosed, but State police troopers are continuing the investigation.
