Why are you seeking this office?
I am running because this moment calls for leadership that brings people together, not divides them. Too often, politics feels disconnected from the challenges families face every day. My focus is on what actually improves people's lives: good jobs, strong schools, affordable living, and a fair shot for everyone.
For more than 20 years, I've worked alongside families, educators, employers, and community partners to help people overcome barriers and build better futures. I know progress happens when we listen, work across differences, and prioritize solutions over slogans. I’m running to bring that practical, people-centered approach to Hartford and make sure the voices and priorities of Monroe, Seymour, Shelton, and Stratford are heard.
What do you believe is the No. 1 issue facing Connecticut, and how do you plan to address it?
Affordability and economic security. Families across Connecticut are being squeezed by rising costs – from housing, property taxes, and electricity to groceries to child care. Too many people are working hard and still struggling to get ahead, while seniors worry about whether they can afford to remain in the homes they’ve paid off.
We need a comprehensive approach that helps families keep more of what they earn while creating pathways to better-paying jobs. I will fight for meaningful property-tax reform, a real state child tax credit, more affordable child care, and investments in workforce development and job training that connect people to good-paying careers. I’ll work with anyone willing to advance practical solutions, because families need results, not partisan gridlock.
Energy costs have been soaring in Connecticut. What are your plans to help address this issue?
High energy bills are putting real pressure on families and small businesses. We need to make electricity more affordable, hold utility companies accountable, and ensure that costs passed on to ratepayers are transparent and justified.
As a state senator, I will push for stronger oversight of utility costs, policies that secure the best possible energy prices for consumers, and investments in energy efficiency that help households lower their bills over time. We must also protect access to assistance for families struggling to pay their heating and electric bills. While door knocking, I’ve heard from residents about that difficult choice between keeping the lights on and paying for groceries or other necessities, and I will advocate for energy policy that delivers reliable service at a price people can afford.
Affordability has been a major topic across the country and here in Connecticut. How do you plan to address this issue?
Affordability is what families face every time they sit down to pay their bills. I understand because I know what it’s like to do the math at the kitchen table. Gas, groceries, utilities, housing, local taxes, and child care all cost more, and families need meaningful relief.
I will fight for a state child tax credit to help families manage everyday expenses, property-tax reform that gives homeowners and seniors greater stability, and policies that make child care more affordable. I also believe workforce development is essential to affordability: people need access to training and good-paying jobs that allow them to support their families and build financial security.
We need to be responsible with taxpayer dollars while making smart investments in the people and communities that keep Connecticut strong. Families deserve elected officials that understands their challenges and delivers results.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
For more than 20 years, I’ve worked as a social worker and in workforce development, helping families navigate challenges, access resources, and build more stable futures. I know what it takes to help a family hold together because I’ve done that work every day – and I’ve helped hundreds of families do the same, often with far fewer resources than they need.
I’ve also helped connect hundreds of students to job placements and opportunities to build pathways. Throughout my career, I’ve brought together employers, schools, and community partners to help people overcome barriers and succeed. That experience has taught me how to listen, solve problems, build partnerships, and turn good intentions into tangible results. Those are skills I will bring to the State Senate.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I want voters to know that I will represent everyone in the 21st Senate District, regardless of party affiliation. My commitment is to the people I serve, not to partisan talking points.
As a social worker and workforce development professional, I’ve spent my career listening to people, bringing partners together, and finding practical solutions to difficult problems. I will bring that same approach to Hartford, fighting for affordability, good jobs, strong communities, and opportunities for every family to thrive. I’ll work across party lines whenever it helps move our district and our state forward.
