David K. Schuchmann - Obituary
Beloved Father & Grandfather - his legacy of kindness, community spirit, and love for his family will be remembered forever.
David Kurt Schuchmann, age 56, of Ansonia, passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2024. Born in Derby on August 29, 1968, he was the beloved son of Jean E. McCarthy Schuchmann of Ansonia and the late William A. Schuchmann.
A lifelong resident of Ansonia and a 1986 graduate of Ansonia High School, David had deep roots in his community. He spent many years helping his parents in the family business, Eastside Greenhouses, and in more recent times, devoted himself as a full-time caregiver for his mother.
David’s warm, welcoming nature made him a friend to everyone he met. He truly loved being surrounded by people, whether it was sharing a story, meeting someone new, or lending a helping hand. He would give his shirt off his back to anyone he met. His kindness and ability to connect with others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A loyal Boston Red Sox fan and avid baseball card collector, David enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including trips to the casino and, above all, spending time with his cherished children and grandchildren.
His love for his family and his community was evident in everything he did.
In addition to his mother, Jean, David leaves behind his devoted children, David Schuchmann and his wife, Brittany, of Derby, Megan Schuchmann, and Kurt Schuchmann, both of Ansonia; his brothers, William A. Schuchmann, Jr. of Bethany, and Michael Schuchmann and his wife, Sandi, of Oxford; and his treasured grandchildren, Aaliyah, Camden, Aiden, and Kaiden, all of Ansonia. He will also be deeply missed by several nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, with interment at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby. Online condolences may be shared at www.wakeleememorial.com.
David’s legacy of kindness, community spirit, and love for his family will be remembered forever.
