Decision Made On Hops Co. Expansion Request

DERBY, CT — The Planning and Zoning Commission denied a zoning change request for The Hops Co. that would've allowed the popular beer garden to expand its operation.

Dozens of nearby residents opposed the zoning change, according to the Connecticut Post.

The zoning change would've only applied to the business, which is in a non-conforming use in a residential area. The owner hoped to rebuild a portion of the building and add 55 parking spaces.

Residents had complained of patrons flooding streets with parking.
