Derby Alderman, Firefighter Charged
A Derby city alderman and volunteer firefighter was charged after a hit-and-run crash, according to police.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Derby Alderman Louis Oliwa was criminally charged after he left the scene of an accident without reporting it, according to police.
Oliwa hit a parked car in a parking lot in June, according to WTNH. He is a volunteer firefighter in Derby and a paid lieutenant in the New Haven Fire Department.
Derby's fire department told WTNH there was an incident with one of their EMS vehicles, but they weren't able to comment further.
