Derby Among Valley Communities Studying Possible Sewage Treatment Regionalization
The state is providing money for the study.

DERBY, CT — Under a $1.35 million grant from the state, the Valley communities of Derby, Seymour, Naugatuck, Beacon Falls and Ansonia will study the feasibility of regionalizing their sewage treatment efforts.
The grant is going to the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG) to look at whether these Valley communities can consolidate wastewater treatment facilities.
Derby Mayor Anita Dugatto, who has made finding cost-cutting possibilities through the regionalization of municipal services one of her priorities, applauded the initiative.

"This study will not negate the necessity of the pump station upgrades currently under negotiation at the Derby facility," said Dugatto in a statement. "However, it will explore potential opportunities to lessen additional burdens on our taxpayers."
