Derby Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Crash With SUV In Waterbury: Police
Police said the bicyclist is currently in serious condition and was taken to a local hospital.
DERBY, CT — A Derby bicyclist is in serious condition after his bike collided with a vehicle Friday afternoon in Waterbury, according to the Waterbury Police Department.
In a news release, Waterbury police said officers were called to the area of Charles and Fifth streets around 1 p.m. after receiving a report of a serious accident involving a bicycle.
According to police, officers arrived in the area and found an SUV and a pedestrian on a bicycle had collided at the intersection of Charles and Fifth streets.

The bicyclist, described by police as a 42-year-old Derby man, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries sustained as result of the crash, according to the department.
Police said the bicyclist is currently in serious condition.

The active investigation is currently being handled by the department's Crash Reconstruction Unit, police said.
The area where the crash occurred is temporarily closed while officers continue their investigation, according to police.
