Derby City Budget Comes With Tax Increase

Residents are in for a sizeable tax increase.

DERBY, CT — The Board of Apportionment and Taxation approved the $44.5 million city budget, which will cause a 2.5 mill rate increase.

A city audit found that a $1.2 million state grant was counted twice in the 2017-2018 tax year, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Derby Public School system will be flat-funded. It has received no increase for two years. Several residents urged for an increase to the system.
