Derby-Shelton Rotary Club Announces 2026 Flags For Heroes Ceremony Details

The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club has announced the date and further details for its fifth annual Flags for Heroes Ceremony.

SHELTON, CT — The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club has announced the date and further details for its fifth annual Flags for Heroes Ceremony scheduled for later this year.

According to a news release provided by the rotary club, the ceremony is open to the public and will take place June 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shelton Veterans Memorial Park.

The patriotic community tribute "honors heroes who have made a meaningful impact in our lives — including veterans, active military, first responders, healthcare workers, teachers, coaches, community leaders, neighbors and loved ones," according to the release.

The ceremony will feature patriotic reflections, community recognition and a moment of gratitude honoring those who serve and inspire, as well as a new slideshow.

Leading up to the ceremony, hundreds of American flags will be displayed on the Derby Green and the Shelton Veterans Memorial Park in a powerful visual tribute to service, sacrifice and community pride, according to the release.

Community members, families and businesses are invited to sponsor flags in honor of their heroes that will include a commemorative tag bearing the hero's name and recognition, according to the release.

The flag sponsorship deadline is May 15.

Proceeds from the Flags for Heroes program support local charitable initiatives and community service projects led by the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club, according to the release.
