Derby State Sen. Logan Tapped for Republican Leadership Posts

Logan represents Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Derby, Hamden, Naugatuck and Woodbridge.

DERBY, CT — State Sen. George Logan (R-17th) has been named Senate Republican Majority Whip, in addition to several other leadership positions for the 2017 session of the Connecticut General Assembly.

Logan will serve as Co-Chair of the legislature's Planning and Development Committee, Vice-Chair of the Veterans Committee and Vice-Chair of the Public Health Committee.

Additionally, the first-term state senator will join the Regulation Review Committee and the Education Committee. Logan represents Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Derby, Hamden, Naugatuck and Woodbridge.

As the Senate Republican Majority Whip, Logan will help build consensus on caucus priorities and policies.

The legislature’s Planning and Development Committee handles matters relating to local governments, regional planning and development activities and economic development programs affecting local governments.

The Veterans Committee handles matters relating to military and veterans' affairs.

The Public Health Committee handles matters relating to emergency medical services, nursing homes, and controlled substances, including the treatment of substance abuse.

The Regulation Review Committee reviews regulations proposed by state agencies and approves them before regulations are implemented.

The Education Committee, which handles matters relating to the Department of Education, local and regional boards of education, libraries, museums and historical and cultural associations.
