Derby Swears In New Police Chief: PD
City officials, officers and community members recently gathered for the swearing-in and promotion ceremony of Derby's new police chief.
DERBY, CT — Brian Grogan was sworn in as Derby's new police chief during a ceremony held Wednesday evening, according to the Derby Police Department.
In a Facebook post, police said family, friends, city officials, fellow officers and community members all gathered for the swearing-in and promotion ceremony.
According to the department, Grogan spoke about the responsibility and privilege of leading the department while recognizing the hard work and dedication of the men and women who have served before him.

The department also highlighted some of Grogan's remarks during the ceremony, where he noted it was "the honor of my lifetime to serve as your chief of police. I look forward to leading this department, and I am excited for what the future holds," according to police.
"Please join us in congratulating Chief Brian Grogan on this well-deserved promotion," police wrote on Facebook, "and wishing him continued success as he leads the Derby Police Department."
