Derby Woman Killed In Crash In Orange, ID Released By Police
Police said a Derby woman was killed in a crash near a college campus in Orange.
DERBY, CT — A Derby woman was killed in a crash Thursday morning in Orange, according to the Orange Police Department.
In a news release shared to Facebook, police said a gray Nissan Altima driven by Catherine Mis, 59, of Derby, was traveling southbound around 10:15 a.m. on Derby Milford Road near the University of New Haven Orange Campus when the car left the road for an unknown reason and struck a utility pole.
According to police, Mis was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries, where she later died.

Police also noted the crash appeared to be a one-car accident and Mis was the only occupant in the vehicle.
The utility pole is being replaced and construction is expected to last until late Thursday night or early Friday morning, according to police.

The road is open to traffic, police said.
