The First Annual Down By The River Festival will be held on Saturday, September 6,2014 at the Shelton Veterans Memorial Park on Canal Street in Shelton, CT.
We begin at 7:30 AM with our first ever Bike for HOPE, a 50-mile bicycle ride kicking off from the Riverwalk and following the Naugatuck Greenway to Waterbury and back with shorter rides of 15 and 20 miles.
Each cyclist is encouraged to raise $100 and there is early bird registration through 7/31/2014. Hand cyclists welcome. Top fundraiser will receive a gift equivalent to $500. Please visit http://www.dbtr.org/ride/index.shtml for more information on the Bike For HOPE. Please consider either making a donation in support of our event to a participant, team or directly to MovingWithHOPE. As the Bike For HOPE ends...
...the Down By The River Music Festival begins! We start at 11 AM and will feature popular area and regional bands with a featured performance by CT's own Shakedown. There will be arts and crafts booths, food vendors, children's activities, a world-championship-qualifier chili-cook off, and free access to employment support services, health screenings and social services. The festival will end around 7pm.
Proceeds from this day long event will benefit MovingWithHOPE, Inc., http://www.movingwithhope.org/ a Shelton-based 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides programming scholarships and adaptive equipment for those survivors of brain and spinal cord injuries and diseases so that they may receive year-round access to independent living skills training, recreation and inclusive socialization.
