Driver Charged In Fatal Derby Crash That Killed Co-Worker: Report
The suspect, a Bridgeport man, is accused of striking a pedestrian on Division Street in Derby last December, according to authorities.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 20-year-old Bridgeport man, who was arrested on a warrant in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash in Derby last December, appeared in court Wednesday, reported the Connecticut Post.
According to authorities, Antonio Pereira was driving on Division Street in Derby when he struck John Jepson, 61, who was crossing the street near Pershing Drive. The two worked at the same McDonald's on Division Street, and Jepson died days after the collision.
Pereira is accused of fleeing the scene after the crash, leaving an injured Jepson in the street. That same night, Pereira allegedly went to work at the McDonald's, arriving in a vehicle with a smashed windshield.

Police arrested Pereira on a warrant in July, charging him with evading responsibility in a fatal crash, and operating a motor vehicle without a license. He is free on bond, and his next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 2.
