Early Morning Basement Fire Displaces Shelton Residents: FD
Residents of a Shelton home were displaced after a fire broke out in the house's basement, according to fire officials.
SHELTON, CT — Residents of a Shelton home were displaced after a fire broke out in the house's basement early Wednesday morning, according to fire officials.
In a news release, fire officials said crews were called to a Sunrise Circle home around 5:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a house fire.
Residents were able to evacuate the house as firefighters arrived and found a working basement fire with visible flames coming from a picture window on the home's lower level, officials said.

The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes and crews extensively searched the house for hidden fire and hotspots, officials said. The Shelton Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
The house was determined to be uninhabitable and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents with shelter, officials said.
