The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) has elected Edward J. Sheehy, Jr. CFSP, CPC, CCO, as the association’s 2023 Treasurer.

The Shelton resident is a licensed funeral director/embalmer, and is the President and one of the owners of Riverview Funeral Home in Shelton and Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home in Derby.

Sheehy is a longtime member of CFDA’s Executive Committee, and served as the association’s President in 2018 and 2019, and as its Interim President in 2020 upon the sudden death of then President Alexander J. Scott. He is recognized as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) through the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. His CPC (Certified Planning Consultant) is from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), making him qualified to help families plan appropriate and customized services, manage funding options and ensure consumer protection for the families he serves. His CCO indicates that he completed the NFDA’s Certified Crematory Operator program.

Sheehy became a licensed funeral director/embalmer in 1987 after receiving his professional schooling from the Mortuary Science program at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. In 1984, He joined Riverview Funeral Home, which was established by his uncle and mentor, the late Joseph A. Pagliaro, Sr. in 1968. In 1999, the business was expanded to include the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home in Derby. Sheehy became President of both funeral homes in 2004 and shares ownership with his cousins, Joseph A. Pagliaro, Jr. and Michelle and Brett Haywood.

Born and raised in Derby, Sheehy is a graduate of Derby High School. Today, he lives in Shelton, Conn. with his wife, Jodi, with whom he has two daughters. He is a member and a past president of the Derby/Shelton Rotary Club and is a parishioner and member of the Finance Committee of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church in Shelton, as well as a volunteer for many other civic organizations over the years.
