End Of Watch: Ansonia K-9 Kane Euthanized Following Cancer Diagnosis

K-9 Officer Kane fell ill on Sunday, and after round the clock treatment and testing was found to have cancer.

ANSONIA, CT — K-9 Officer Kane died Monday following eight years of dedicated service, the Ansonia Police Department announced in a news release.

Kane fell ill on Sunday, and after round the clock treatment and testing was found to have cancer. The K-9 officer was euthanized at 6 p.m. Monday.

The City of Ansonia, police and residents will hold an official ceremony honoring Kane in the near future.

The Ansonia Police Department has extended its sympathy to Kane's partner, Officer Paul Smith, and his family.
