Fake Fire Alarm Box Found In Derby: FD

Fire Chief David Lenart said the box "is not part of or connected to our system that was removed several years ago."

DERBY, CT — A fake fire alarm pull box has been found at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue and Nutmeg Avenue, according to fire officials.

Fire Chief David Lenart said Friday on Facebook the department has already contacted Derby police and the utility company that owns the pole to have the fake alarm box removed.

Lenart also noted the box "is not part of or connected to [the fire department's] system that was removed several years ago."

In the event of an emergency, residents are reminded to call 9-1-1, Lenart said.
