Lack of motivation is something that many people encounter when it comes to diet and exercise. Here are a few tips to help keep you focused.
1. Determine why you want to lose weight and or get in shape (ex: to feel more confident, get in shape for a job, to help be more active with your kids, improve overall health, etc).
2. Envision what you want to accomplish and give yourself reminders to help you stay focused.
*Try keeping a favorite picture of yourself that you can look at. Maybe you want to get back to that happy weight or shape.
* Set your screen saver with an inspirational message.
* Leave sticky notes with reminders to keep you focused.
* Keep an article of clothing that you envision yourself wearing again.
3. Try exercising with a friend. Having company will make the experience more enjoyable and before you know it all that chatting led to a great calorie burn!!!
4. Keep healthy on the go snacks in the house, car and at work. Being prepared will prevent those last minute stops at the drive thru or vending machine.
5. Treat yourself when you reach short term and long term goals. Try buying a new piece of clothing instead of rewarding with food.
