Fire Breaks Out At Derby Home: FD
Firefighters brought the blaze under control, however a crew member was injured after being attacked by a dog, according to fire officials.
DERBY, CT — About 40 firefighters worked to extinguish a fire that broke out at a home in Derby early Sunday morning, according to fire officials.
In a Facebook post, Fire Chief David Lenart said the blaze was reported around 5: 30 a.m. at a multiple dwelling home on Spring Street.
When firefighters arrived in the area, they found a fire had broken out on the building's third floor, Lenart said.

At one point, a second fire alarm was struck that sent crews from Ansonia, Shelton and Orange to Spring Street to help.
Firefighters were ultimately able to bring the fire under control, however a crew member was injured after being attacked by a dog and brought to Griffin Hospital, Lenart said. No other injuries were reported.

"The members made quick work of an advanced fire," Lenart said on Facebook.
