Fire Breaks Out At Derby Laundromat: FD

Firefighters were called to the laundromat​ after a fire broke out over a bank of dryers, according to fire officials.

DERBY, CT — Firefighters were called to the Sterling Laundromat after a fire broke out over a bank of dryers Wednesday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, fire officials said crews made their way to the laundromat, located in a high rise structure on Olivia Street, around 4:30 p.m.

When crews arrived, they encountered smoke before locating the fire over a bank of dryers. Firefighters worked quickly to make sure the blaze did not extend out of the laundromat, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported, and crews remained at the laundromat for several hours, fire officials said.

Shelton firefighters also provided assistance during the incident.
