Fire Breaks Out In Trash Chute At 17-Story Building In Shelton: FD

SHELTON, CT — A trash chute fire was reported Wednesday night at a 17-story high-rise building in Shelton, according to the Shelton Fire Department.

In a news release, fire officials said multiple fire alarm detectors were activated just before 10 p.m. at a high-rise on Parrott Drive.

When crews entered the building, they noticed some smoke on the 10th and 12th floors, according to fire officials.

After further investigation, crews found a small fire in a trash bin in the building's basement, fire officials said.

The building was habitable and no injuries were reported, according to fire officials.

The fire marshal's office is investigating the incident, fire officials said.
