Former CT Prison Guard Charged With Workers' Comp Fraud
The former corrections officer worked on the side while still collecting benefits for a work-related injury, according to a warrant.
DERBY, CT — A Derby man was charged with illegally collecting workers compensation benefits while he was employed as a state corrections officer, according to the state Division of Criminal Justice.
Emanuel Franceschi, 31, was charged with fraudulent claim or receipt of benefits and first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community.
Franceschi worked as an unlicensed home improvement contractor while collecting benefits for an injury he reported sustaining during his work as a corrections officer, according to an arrest warrant.

He did work for two co-workers that included removal of carpets, laying floors and installing doors, according to the warrant. He didn't report the income.
Franceschi is no longer employed by the state Department of Correction.
