Former Shelton High Principal Grievance Could Head To Arbitration
Former Shelton High Principal Beth Smith's grievance against her transfer could potentially head to arbitration.
SHELTON, CT — It appears that former Shelton High School principal Beth Smith's grievance against her transfer has a good chance of heading to arbitration, according to her attorney.
Smith argued to a Board of Education subcommittee that her transfer to supervisor of special education was a demotion because it came with less authority and a lower classification under the union bargaining agreement, according to the Shelton Herald.
Smith was reassigned after an investigation into whether she had properly handled an investigation into a reported sexual assault involving two students. Police had sought an arrest warrant, but the state attorney's office declined to prosecute.
