Four Charged After Teen, 19 Stabbed at Shelton Party

Four people are facing charges after the incident in May.

Four people have been charged in connection with an incident at a party in Shelton where a 19-year-old female was stabbed.

According to police, the incident occurred on May 2 shortly after midnight.

Police responded to St. Vincent’s Medical Center and interviewed the female victim who reported that she was at a party where a fight broke out and she was reportedly stabbed. The female victim was treated for a laceration to her head and stab wound to her back, police said.

According to police, an investigation by detectives revealed that a fight broke out between two females at the party and several people jumped into the fight. The fight reportedly began inside the residence and spilled outside, where it eventually ended, police said.

A 17-year-old juvenile from West Haven was charged with second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. The juvenile is believed to be responsible for stabbing the victim, police said.

Merita Rugova, 18, of Shelton was charged with second-degree aiding and abetting assault, third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. Rugova was involved in the assault on the victim, police say. She posted a $5,000 bond and was given a court date of July 21.

A 17-year-old juvenile from Shelton was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

Finally, Jeremy Thompson, 18, of Shelton was charged with interfering with an officer after allegedly misleading investigators during the course of the investigation. Thompson posted a $1,000 bond and was given a court date of July 21.
