DERBY, CT — A German Shepherd was shot multiple times during the overnight hours between Thursday and Friday, and Derby police are asking for the public's help in finding the dog's owner and circumstances of the shooting.

Officers found the injured dog at the Derby Picnic Grove on Nutmeg Avenue, and got it to a local facility for treatment.

The dog is described as a male, black and brown in color, and likely 8 months to 2 years old, according to police.

Additional details were not disclosed, but an investigation is underway to find the owner and learn of the circumstances of the incident.
