PROSPECT, CT — A fundraiser has been launched to support a Prospect mother who is currently battling breast cancer and dealing with surmounting expenses as a result.
According to the GoFundMe page, Amanda Van Fleet was diagnosed with stage 2 triple-negative breast cancer in 2021.
After undergoing chemotherapy, surgeries and immunotherapy, Van Fleet entered remission and was able to marry Chris, the love of her life, and give birth to their "miracle baby," Logan.

"Initially, Amanda's body had a tremendous response to the medication Lynparza," the description reads, "but...we found out the medicine is no longer working and the cancer continues to aggressively spread rapidly throughout her body."
Since then, multiple teams of doctors have collaborated to create a comprehensive treatment program for Van Fleet, however many of these tests and treatments are not covered by insurance.
"Amanda’s been out of work since her original diagnosis in 2021, and Chris has been taking time off work to support Amanda during her treatments while being the only source of income for the family," the description reads. "They need help with all of the medical bills, treatments, hospital travel fees, and out of pocket expenses, on top of regular bills and living expenses."
The campaign, which was was created in December by Van Fleet's sister-in-law, Emily, has raised over $62,000 through over 500 donations as of Monday afternoon.
Anyone who wishes to donate to the GoFundMe page can do so here.
"Amanda and Chris are some of the strongest people I know," the description reads. "They’ve already fought this battle once and are now doing it again, but with a baby...they are both too kind to ask for help, but this beautiful family has a tough fight ahead of them and could really use the support."
