Health Insurance and Banking Executives: CT Tax Burden Is Too High
Shelton native Eric Schultz, CEO of Harvard Pilgrim, says CT is the 4th most-expensive state in which to provide health care.

Top executives with health insurer Harvard Pilgrim and People's United Bank believe Connecticut's tax burden is too high, and the state should follow the lead of Massachusetts in lowering taxes, reports the New Haven Register.
Shelton native Eric Schultz, CEO of Harvard Pilgrim, told an audience at a recent Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce event that Connecticut is the fourth most-expensive state in which to provide health care.
John Traynor, chief investment officer for People's United, echoed those sentiments, stressing that while Connecticut's economy is growing, the pace is slower than people would like. The state's tax policy is a major reason Connecticut's economy is growing slowly, he said, in part because it takes over five months of a worker's annual salary to pay off taxes.
